Otaru Marina |
| Introduction |
| The area surrounding Otaru harbor is both a fishing and leisure spot. The marina is well stocked with fishing equipment as well as providing fishing information. The marian is also used for boat cruising, fishing, yacht cruising and yacht racing. There is also the opportunity to take a ride on one of the many boats in the marina as part of an Otaru City program. Since the marina's completion it has provided owners, their families, friends and colleagues with the opportunity to enjoy the sea.
As the city takes all possible measures to ensure marine safety, users are able to relax and enjoy the surroundings. In the twenty-first century, we expect Otaru Marina to develop with the nearby "Chikko" yard, which as mentioned above is already under construction. The Marina will continue to contribute to the ongoing development of this part of the City. |
| Details |
| This area used to be a "South Sea" lumberyard. However, raw timber imports decreased, and the area was redeveloped for marine recreation. Since then, the Marina has played an important role in the revitalization of Otaru City. |
